EGO — Press Release on Platform Screen Door Systems
Official announcement describing the initiative to install platform-screen doors to separate platforms from tracks.
OdinPSD is an innovative engineering company that manufactures modern, safe Platform Screen Door systems. We develop solutions that enhance safety and comfort in public transport.
To improve passenger safety and travel comfort on the Metro, we successfully delivered a fully-synchronised Platform Screen Door (PSD) system. By adding automatic doors between passengers and the tracks, OdinPSD guarantees maximum safety. Peak-hour crowding has been greatly reduced and boarding/alighting flows have become orderly and efficient.
All hardware and software meet European safety standards and were integrated with local engineering expertise. The system activates automatically as a train approaches and opens only in perfect synchronisation with the train doors, eliminating the risks of falling, pushing or accidental track access. Implemented in partnership with Metropolitan Municipality, this project is now a benchmark for modern urban transit infrastructure, and OdinPSD aims to lead similar projects in other major Turkish cities.
The PSD system we supplied places fully automatic synchronised doors between passengers and the track area, delivering maximum safety and solving congestion during peak hours.
After commissioning, passenger feedback and field observations confirmed a marked increase in safety and smoother boarding—even during rush hour. The PSD system blocks track access, prevents accidents and boosts energy efficiency.
Post-implementation surveys show over 95 % positive feedback.
Risks such as falling or unauthorised track entry have been eliminated.
Platform Screen Door (PSD) systems are an essential technological solution developed to enhance passenger safety, provide energy efficiency, and optimize operational performance in modern metro infrastructure. By creating a physical barrier between passengers and tracks, these systems reduce accidents and service disruptions.
Especially in high-density urban transit networks, PSD projects play a pivotal role in creating safe, smart, and sustainable mobility environments.
PSD systems typically include automatic sliding glass doors, safety sensors, SCADA integration, and emergency evacuation modules.
PSD systems can be implemented in new metro lines or retrofitted into existing stations. The process includes civil engineering work, electrical wiring, signal-software integration, and rigorous safety testing.
Retrofitting older stations often presents engineering challenges that require customized technical solutions.
PSD projects align with smart city objectives by integrating with IoT, AI, and big data platforms. Capabilities like real-time passenger monitoring, predictive maintenance, and automated incident response enable a more resilient and intelligent metro infrastructure.
By reducing energy consumption, improving air quality within stations, and providing safer public transport, PSD systems contribute positively to both ecological goals and urban livability.
